Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 August 2026

This policy explains what data Sprout collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Sprout is built to be private by default: your budgeting data stays on your device, and the cloud is used only for an optional backup you control.

1. Data that stays on your device

Your transactions, wallets, categories, budgets and progress are stored locally on your device in the app’s database. If you never create an account, this data is never sent to us — the app works fully offline.

2. Account data

If you create an account to enable cloud backup, we process your email address, your display name (if you provide one), and authentication data needed to sign you in and keep you signed in. Authentication is handled by our infrastructure provider, Supabase.

3. Cloud backup

When you turn on cloud backup, a snapshot of your app database is sent over an encrypted (TLS) connection and stored in a private, access-controlled bucket scoped to your account, so only your account can read or write your backups. Backups are encrypted at rest by our storage provider. You can stop backing up, delete your backups, or delete your account at any time.

4. Billing data

If you subscribe to Pro, payments are processed by third-party payment providers (for example mobile-money and card processors, or the app stores). We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not store your full card or mobile-money credentials on our servers.

5. Diagnostics and device data

To operate the Service we process limited technical data: a device identifier generated by the app, app version, platform, locale, and — if you opt into notifications — a push token. We use this to deliver notifications, target announcements, and support the app across versions. If you are signed in, this record is associated with your account; when you delete your account, that association is removed.

Sprout also sends an anonymous summary of how the app is used, so we can see which features are worth improving. It is a snapshot of your current settings and progress, not a log of what you do or when. It consists of: your level, XP and which badges you have earned; how many wallets, categories and budgets exist; a range for how many transactions you have recorded (never the exact number); your theme, font and currency choice; and whether you completed setup, viewed the app guide, and have reminders or sounds switched on.

This summary never includes any amount of money, anything you have typed (transaction notes, category or wallet names), your name, your email address, or your location. It is on by default and you can turn it off at any time in Settings → Privacy in the app. Turning it off also deletes the summary we already hold — it does not merely stop future updates. Turning it off does not affect notifications, which rely on the separate technical data described above.

We do not use your financial data for advertising, we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we never sell your data.

6. How we use data

We use the data above to provide and secure the Service, enable backup and restore, process subscriptions, send you notifications you’ve asked for, respond to support requests, and comply with the law. We do not sell your personal data or share it for third-party advertising.

7. Your choices and rights

You can use Sprout with no account at all. You can access, export or delete your data from within the app, turn cloud backup on or off, and request deletion of your account and associated backups. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data; contact us to exercise them.

8. Data retention

We keep account and backup data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account we delete the associated cloud data, except where we are required to retain limited records (for example, for tax or legal reasons).

9. Children

Sprout is not directed to children under the age required to consent to data processing in your country, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy; when we make material changes we’ll update the date above. For any privacy question, or to make a data request, email info@denovofx.com. See also our Terms of Service.
