Terms of Service

Last updated: 3 July 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Sprout (“Sprout”, “we”, “us”) covering your use of the Sprout mobile app and this website (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

1. The Service

Sprout is a personal expense-tracking app. It is offline-first: your data is stored on your device and the app is fully functional without an internet connection. An account is optional and is used only to enable a private cloud backup of your data.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information when you sign up, and let us know promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your country to use the Service.

3. Free trial, Pro and billing

New accounts begin with a free trial of Sprout Pro. After the trial you may continue on the free plan or subscribe to Pro (billed monthly or yearly). Paid features are unlocked while your subscription or trial is active.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; you keep Pro features until the end of the period you have already paid for. Prices, taxes and available payment methods may vary by region and can change with notice.

4. Your data and backups

You own your data. Because Sprout is offline-first, the copy on your device is the source of truth. If you enable cloud backup, a copy of your data is transmitted over an encrypted connection and stored in a private, access-controlled space tied to your account. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle it.

5. Acceptable use

Don’t misuse the Service: no attempting to breach or probe security, no interfering with other users, no reverse-engineering except where the law permits, and no using the Service to break the law. We may suspend or terminate accounts that do.

6. Disclaimer

Sprout is a budgeting tool, not financial, tax or investment advice. The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We work hard to keep it reliable, but we don’t guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Keep your own records; you are responsible for decisions you make based on the app.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sprout is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

8. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
